1. Paint an unfinished wooden magazine rack (from crafts store) with
acrylic paints (we used yellow, black, white, red and blue). To paint
checkerboard on upper crosswise slat, paint slat yellow. Let dry. Pencil
center horizontal line. Mask alternate 1"-wide spaces with tape. Paint
exposed spaces black. Remove tape.
2. Paint posts pink, lower slats blue.
3. Paint ends white. When dry, add black patches.
4. Apply a clear finish.
